UIG-Everstore® tanks come to the job site fully shop pre-fabricated and we actually mean it.
Every tank opening is precisely shop located against approved and PE stamped plans and laser cut in the shop PRIOR to glass coating application. All edges are fully encapsulated in glass coating system “inside and out” including nozzle openings, all bolt holes, external edges.
Since 2012, UIG has pioneered factory locating of nozzles and we insist on it with every engineer. We don’t allow cutting of the tank openings in the field unless it’s an emergency and at customer’s request only.
Cutting of nozzle openings in the field, as well as drilling of the bolt holes for the nozzles backing plates, and the use of 4-splined bolts should be banned on glass fused to steel tanks. It’s just damaging and in some cases completely compromises and destroys the tank even prior to its initial fill. A cathodic protection system is NOT the solution to problems associated with the bare metal spots on your brand new tank, even if it’s covered with sealant. Once the glass coating is compromised, the cathodic protection system becomes just another temporary mitigation of the corrosion issues. It the best practice to preserve the glass coating system intact.
